Education

Graduated at geophysical branch of Physical department of Lomonosov’s Moscow State University (MSU) (department “Physics of Earth”) in 1979.

Defence of theses

In 1985 at IPE RAS defended candidate’s thesis «Complex interpretation of DSS and gravimetry data at study of structure of crust and upper mantle». Award a degree candidate physical-mathematical sciences (PhD).

In 2004 at IPE RAS defended doctoral thesis «Patterns of meso-cenozoic geodynamical evolution of North and South America western margin». Award a degree doctor physical-mathematical sciences (Dphil).

Professional advance

After graduating at MSU from 1979.to the present works at Federal government budgetary enterprise of science Schmidt Institute of Physics of Earth Russian academy of science (IPE RAS).

Main direction of scientific research

The complex interpretation of geologic and geophysical data (including original new methods for decision of direct and inverse three-dimensional problems of gravimetry, seismic density modeling, modeling of stress, caused by tectonic movement and density inhomogeneities, etc.), and construction on its base complex models of crust and upper mantle for regions in ocean-continent transition zones, and reconstruction of scenarios of its geodynamical evolution. Particularly, as results of generalization and analisys of numerous variegated data developed patterns of meso-cenozoic geodynamical evolution of North and South America western active margin, show the correlation between main meso-cenozoic tectono-magmatic episodes on its margin and metallogeny. In co-authorship with Tkachev A.V. developed the three-phase scheme of forming the most productive world Boron-lithium province, localized at active continental margin and in collision zones.

Took participation in international geophysical projects study Cascade subduction zone («Cascadia»), South California crust and upper mantle structure («LARSE»), deformation processes in the Ands («Deformation processes in the Ands»).
